HOW DOES THE EMERGENCY SERVICE WORK?
An operator replies and asks us the questions needed to provide adequate support:
- What's your name?
- What is wrong? / What exactly has happened?
- Is anybody hurt?
- What service do you require? (an ambulance/an emergency vehicule/firefighters/the police...)
- What is your address? (necessary to send help)
Finally, the operator will tell us to calm down as help is on the way. On some occasions we may be told what to do while help arrives: get out of the car, help someone who is injured, etc.
TYPICAL EMERGENCIES:
- Heart attack
- Fire
- Poison
- Choke
- Bleed
- Unconscious
- Burn
- Car accident
- Earthquake
- Ambulance (I need an ambulance)
